We at Crystal Lake Resort are dedicated to making your hunt with us the experience of a lifetime.  We want everyone to know just how we did.  Here are the results of our first survey, conducted in 2008.

The following were rated on a scale of 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent).

Comments:

The Outfitter

• Dan was very open to our questions. Great enthusiasm.
• Dan thankyou for being so personable, and we got a lot of pleasure from the fact that you are a family business, can’t wait till your daughters are guiding. Awesome!
• An experience I will never forget.
• Garrett and I had a great time with everyone.

The Guide(s)

• Carrol was the best.
• Very motivated to get us out hunting. Great job.
• Jarrod was a wonderful guide, personable, pleasant, helpful, and a good cook too.
• Had to walk too far and he didn’t carry my gun? (HA HA HA) Had to fetch his gloves out of the lake. (The Inside Story- this hunter shot his moose out of a boat on the first day of the hunt, and the wind blew my glove in the lake when I was tying up the boat)
• Rookie
• Was the best, Dan tried hard for my bull.
• Earle had great stories
• I want to hunt with Carrol again.

The Cabin(S)

• Wonderful, we loved the privacy
• There was a draft
• Great, can’t wait to sleep in new ones.
• Hot water showers would be nice (remote cabin)
• Crystal Lake (4) Greer Creek Cabin (2) – pack rat, 30-06 kill

The Food

• Ellen’s prepared ahead gourmet entrees were excellent and much appreciated (remote cabin)
• Just like home
• Very good cook
• My and Garretts Highlight of the trip
• Dan’s steaks were great also
• Great food, great cooks
• Yum Yum

The Equipment

• One ATV wasn’t at the first cabin so we had to make 2 trips to Kennedy. The ATV at Kennedy wasn’t in too good of shape, no winch, and reverse was difficult.
• All Honda!
• Better yet
• Hope to ride on your pontoon boat next time
• Loved the 4 wheelers
• Chainsaw not properly equipped tools did not fit. No lifejackets, no orientation, inoperable come-along. We enjoyed everything except I do have a few important safety suggestions – each hunter should be provided a detailed map of the area and cautioned to have the essentials for overnight survival – do not allow anyone to board a boat without a lifejacket.

The Hunting Quality

• Excellent Hunt
• Great, I’ve never hunted from a boat before, and I need to wear more clothes as I froze, but that was fine, it worked.
• Was good top quality land and hunting places
• A little overcrowded first couple days
• First three days hunting from Greer Creek was dissappointing.
• I wish I would have been on the next hunt as I know the rut picked up.

Meat and Trophy Care

• Very good job
• Glad you said to bring a tarp and game bags. We had 2 sets and used them all as the first set got dirty coming back on the ATV trailer
• Can’t beat free meat at butcher and thanks for trophy care to taxidermist

Overall Rating of Crystal Lake

• Had a great time
• Wonderful! I can’t wait to come up again! (after we eat all this one – 191 lbs boneless, cut and wrapped)
• What can I say when you have your moose the 1st day – see ya again this fall
